On way to Alishan, we stop at 2 Suspension Bridge which are天長橋 & 地久橋 at about 11.30am.
Unfortunately, 天長橋 is closed. Anyway we still can walk through one of the suspension bridge which is 地久橋.
The railway station stopped working because accident happened last week where the train slipped out from railway.
Fenqihu is well known for the local box lunches (奮起湖便當) which were once sold to passengers on the rail line. Each lunch box is sold NT$110 per person with the youth card (np NT$120) which consist of rice, vegetables, chicken and pork meat. We having our lunch at阿良鐵支路便當,50 meter down from old street.
Arrow represents the location of Fenqihu (奮起湖) and It looks quite small right?!… Actually Fenqihu (奮起湖) is not a lake but its shape look like lake. Therefore they called it as “hu (湖)”.
At about 2.30pm, we continued our journey to Alishan National Forest Recreation Area.
A lot of mountain can be seen along the way to Alishan. The scenery is superb in the mountains.
Oop..Forget to introduce…The middle one is Zing Yi’s brother. He is study at Chaiyi
Road & bridge repairing & maintenance construction board.
Main purpose is road repairing & bridge construction. It’s to make the curve road to become straighter & to prevent landslide. We were waiting about 45 minutes to pass it.
Vehicle used to fetch us wherever we went from Chiayi Train Station until Sun Moon Lake.
We reached Alishan National Forest Recreation Area (阿里山國家森林游樂區) entrance. We didn’t need to buy ticket for entrance because it was already including in our package. Normally, one person need to pay NT$100 with the youth card (np NT$150). We direct went to our homestay (欣欣民宿) to check in. Let’s start our journey to Alishan Natinaonal Forest Recreation Area.
[象鼻木] it’s actually the stump of an old cypress tree. You will notice that it resembles an elephant head, with eyes & big trunk in the right places.
[三代木] Big chunky roots lying on the ground are the real roots of the first generation tree. Old hollowed shape is second generation tree. Third generation tree is at its prime with profuse growth.
Tried to touch & hug a GIANT cypress tree from far. haha…..
Marvelous viewed of forest from ground. It was amazing.

At about 7.30pm, we walked around Alishan center area & finally stopped at this tea shop to buy tea. The owner of this shop told us about manufacturing of Alishan tea, how to differentiate good tea & also served Alishan tea for us.
At night, temperature of Alishan was getting cold. It was about 13 degree C & sea level about 2170 m.
After a few hours walked at Alishan center & recreation area, we visited 7-11 for our dinner..泡面!泡面!泡面!Sitting outside of 7-11 having our dinner in 13 degree C cold weather. Syok! Because of the cold weather at night, the homestay lady boss borrowed us thick jumper jackets to get warm^^
We bought some postcard & it undergoes several processed: written, stamped, copped & finally sent the postcard to our families, friends & coursemates.

This time is our far trip where we go to Taiwan as our graduation trip. I go with my coursemates. Before that, we have booked our ticket at 11 August 2010 which cost us RM1652 (vice-versa for 4 person). Start proper research and planning early of 2011. We fly from Kota Kinabalu to Taiwan at 19th May 2011, therefore we arrive one day early at Kota Kinabalu. We stay at Zing Yi’s brother apartment. We did the web checkin in Air Asia website and print it.
Remember: If you are visiting Taiwan from soon, just print out your flight booking and you can redeem a limited edition of EasyCard (悠游卡) with NT$50 value inside the card at Taiwan Visitors Association KL . We can refund the balance yet keep this card. I would recommend using this card when travel in Taipei as there is some small discount on the transportation fairs using this card.

As it is a budget flight, the seats were not so comfortable. It took 3 hours 20 minutes to Taiwan. It’s shorter than flying from Kuala Lumpur. Because we are not seat a big flight like Boeing 727, sothere is no small screen in each seat where you can select your movies, music, games and chatting services.
It’s fun & excited when we about to landing in Terminal 2, Taoyuan International Airport.

On way to buy bus ticket, we can see this welcoming board <<Welcome to Taiwan>>

We finally arrive at 高雄 at about 4.30pm. We check in at 舜鈺商務旅館 . Website: http://www.shun-yu.com.tw . It’s quite cheap & cost us NT$1480 per night for 4 persons. It’s quite near to Kaohsiung Main Station (高雄车站). We spend about 5 minute walk to reach MRT station. The room has “wooden” odor but still acceptable. One of my friend bikes by “kutu” cause her “redness” at her shoulder. Fortunately, she is ok.
After we check in & put the luggage at hotel, it’s about 5pm. We’re going to Sizihwan (西子湾) by Kaohsiung Metro (orange line). Route: 西子湾站—西子湾隧道—国立中山大学—打狗英国领事馆官邸—海之冰—情人桥—瑞豐夜市—六合夜市—舜鈺商務旅館

Next we headed to RuiFeng Night Market (瑞豐夜市), the largest night market at Kaohsiung. We took the Kaohsiung Arena MRT (巨蛋站) to the night market. Next we headed to Liuhe Night Market (六合夜市), another night market at Kaohsiung. We took the Kaohsiung Formosa Boulevard MRT (美麗島站) to the night market.

After we went to Liuhe Night Market, we returned back to our hotel.
